Lately I have been over-thinking about a common pattern that happens in any workplace I have ever found myself in: adding people to chats, threads, emails or conversation in general by simply saying "+Nicola" (ed.note: "insert your name instead of Nicola, of course")
It is considered mostly acceptable, but I find it quite disturbing.
First of all, because it's the digital equivalent of being at a dinner party and having someone haul you into a conversation by your sleeve, only to stand there in silence while you try to figure out what everyone was talking about.
Then, because by not adding ANY context, the tagger (is it a word?) makes it so much harder for the tagged person to understand what is going on. Like, I now have to scroll all the way up to the top, and then walk all the way back down to find out what am I being asked to begin with. Can you add a bit of context together with the tag?
P.S.: Of course I do it too. @all
